What is PRP?
PRP is a concentration of platelets derived from the patient’s own blood. Platelets are a type of blood cell that play a key role in healing and tissue regeneration. They contain growth factors and proteins that aid in the repair and regeneration of tissues.
How PRP Therapy Works for Hair Loss
Blood Draw: A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient, typically from the arm.
Centrifugation: The blood sample is placed in a centrifuge, a machine that spins rapidly to separate the different components of the blood. This process concentrates the platelets.
Preparation of PRP: The platelet-rich plasma, now separated from the rest of the blood components, is collected into a syringe.
Injection into the Scalp: The PRP is injected into specific areas of the scalp where hair thinning or hair loss is evident. Multiple injections are usually administered across the treatment area.
